For the last 20 years, Angie has held management roles in the not-for-profit sector, as well as state and federal government departments. While her background is in organisational psychology and communications, she is passionate about progressive education and ensuring our community and young people has a choice in schooling. Joining Maleny Independent School in a leadership role was a natural progression for Angie. It brings together her diverse skills and experience and applies them in the most meaningful role of her career – establishing and operating a progressive middle school.
Health and Wellbeing Facilitator
Sarah has a background in Public Health, Project Management, Commissioning, Case Management, Management of Health Visiting (Child Health) and School Nursing, as well as Clinical Nursing in a variety of areas. She has worked within Health in both the UK and Australia and is passionate about Child and Youth Development, encompassing the biological, psychological and emotional changes that occur from birth through to adolescence and into adulthood.
Katherine is a remarkable and holistic educator who has worked in a diverse range of schools, including a remote town in Western Australia. Kat holds a Graduate Diploma in Education, a Graduate Certificate in the Arts (English) and a Bachelor in Mass Communications (Journalism and Public Relations). Her focus is to ensure all learners know and reach their potential, feel safe, worthy and supported, and are provided meaningful and personalised access to the Australian Curriculum. Kat is effective in developing the personal, academic and social capabilities of all learners through the creation of a meaningful, supported and accountable community.
Leader of Learning and Engagement
Lee has over 16 years’ experience as an educator, teaching years 6 to 12, mentoring staff across the state as an ICT Pedagogical Licence Facilitator and eLearning Mentor, lecturing and tutoring at Griffith University, and being a curriculum leader at numerous schools. With a Master of Education, Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate of Behaviour Management, and various VET teaching qualifications, Lee comes to us as a leader in his field. He has developed curriculum for SAS, Steiner, special assistance and mainstream schools. Lee, therefore, has extensive and diverse experience and skills to ensure that holistic education and personalised learning are at the forefront of the learning journey.
Kirsty is a remarkable educator and has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher. In that time, Kirsty has worked in the Torres Strait, Northern Territory, Tasmania, Northern Queensland and even Hayman Island. With a Bachelor of Education, Kirsty went on to complete a Post Graduate qualification in Applied Science Fisheries and she is now undertaking a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Most of her career Kirsty has been a whole-school teacher working across year levels, which fits in perfectly with our multi-age school. Her passion to truly understand each learner, connect with them and engage them in their learning journey is evident every minute of the day. Kirsty’s belief that every child can succeed is at the centre of her education program and her commitment to building strong relationships to engage learners is a powerful combination.
Sharon has many, many years’ experience working in an office environment. We would be lost without her swift and proactive approach to everything that comes through the door or onto her desk!
Sandy is an experienced bookkeeper with the knack of the numbers. She keeps our accounts and all things numbers up to date and is a valued member of the team.
